CHRISTMAS 2009
(with apologies to "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)
by Nancy E. Reilly

Christmas, Christmas time is here,
Raising hope and easing fear.
We are glad to put behind
A year that was so unkind.

Let us look forward and think
That twenty-ten will not stink.
For that would drive us to drink...
Only kidding... wink, wink, wink.

There is so much joy ahead.
Mike and Michelle will be wed.
Isabelle and Jackie are
Still our precious little stars.

We sold our cottege in Maine:
Cleaning up was such a pain.
But our memories are great
Of Lake Balch and the Maine state. ©

CHRISTMAS 2010
by Nancy E. Reilly

The year is coming to a close
And we all wonder, "If
These days have so many woes,
Will Christmas be a hit?"

Shoppers scramble to the malls,
It does not matter why.
Now the season beckons and calls.
"Yes, it's holidays time," we sigh.

We must remember that it's true,
"Christmas comes but once a year."
So please smle and don't be blue
The future must not hold fear.

Two thousand and ten gave us hope
As Michelle and Michael did wed.
And Cathy and Timmy never mope
When they tuck Jackie into bed.

Isabelle now has more family
With Mia and Peter in the fold.
Love and joy is the key
For those we cherish and hold.

Let's all rejoice in the season
And spread cheer all around.
Surely, "JESUS IS THE REASON"
That our hope may abound.

For as our cat, Pong, would say
"Happiness is being well-fed."
So have a MERRY CHRISTMAS DAY
And peace in the New Year ahead. ©

CHRISTMAS 2011
by Nancy E. Reilly

Do you remember how it used to be?
With tons of presents under the tree?
And tiny tots on Daddy's knee?
Alas! Christmas is not the same to me.

With the passage of time and days gone by
The joy of Christmas seems lacking, "Oh my!"
We must regain it and really try
To be upbeat and not ask why.

For getting old is not much fun...
Especially when you're the older one.
But Christmas is real and that's no pun.
So let's stop fretting and have some fun.

Let's put on the lights and hang up the trim
And get out the decorations from the bin.
Just forget about the state we're in;
After all, we're both still healthy and slim.

Besides, we're down in Forida by ocean's shore,
With friends and neighbors PLUS "The Dollar Store"
And loving relatives that are our core.
Who could ask for anything more?

So we're rejecting the botox anti-aging fad,
For getting old is just not that bad.
And the TRUE meaning of Christmas is to be had,
For Jesus is coming! Rejoice and be glad! ©
